Outpost 2 Net Fix Setup Guide

The following guide is an adaptation of an MS Word guide written by Ice.
This version differs only from the original in that the layout has been modified to fit within the OPU website and some minor spelling errors have been corrected.

Please note that this is "experimental" software and we cannot at this time really guarantee that this will work in a completely bug-free manner (although it has many improvements over the other methods of playing OP2 online). If it breaks, you get to keep the pieces. We welcome you to try it and to post any problems or comments you have on the forums.

STEP ONE

Copy and paste the following link into your web browser's address bar.

STEP TWO

Left click on op2dl_complete.exe

The following prompt will appear.

STEP THREE

Left click on Save and the following prompt will appear.

STEP FOUR

Save the file to your desktop. To do this look at the top of the dialog box and look for Save In. To the right of this is a blue arrow left click on the arrow and select the Desktop. Once this is done left click on Save in the bottom right hand corner. A box will appear to show the download process.

STEP FIVE

Once it is done downloading the following box will appear.

Left click on Run and follow the Outpost 2 installation guide.

STEP SIX

Once Outpost 2 is installed go to where you installed Outpost 2 (Usually C:\Program Files). Right click in an white area and select New > Folder. Name the folder NetPatch.

Open the NetPatch folder. Go back to your browser window and go to the following link.

Locate the op2mod.dll link and left click on it saving it in the NetPatch folder you just created.

STEP SEVEN

Go to where you installed Outpost 2 and locate the Outpost2.exe.

Once Outpost2.exe is located right click on it and find Create Shortcut. Once the shortcut is created, cut and paste the short cut to your desktop.

STEP EIGHT

Right click on the shortcut you created on your desktop and left click on Properties. Once the properties dialog box appears, locate the word Target and add the following to the end of the line to the right of the word Target: /loadmod NetPatch
Once this is done left click on Apply in the bottom right hand corner.

Shortcut has been pasted on to the desktop and the Properties option has been selected.

Properties dialog box has appeared.

The /loadmod NetPatch line has been added.

STEP NINE

Go back to where you installed Outpost 2. Locate the outpost2.ini, right click on it, and select Open.

STEP TEN

Add the following to the end of the outpost2.ini.

[GameServer]
GameServerAddr=68.146.114.178:47777

Exit the outpost2.ini and say yes to saving the file when prompted.

STEP 11

You're at the end! Time to test all your work. Locate the Outpost 2 short cut you made that is located on your desktop. Double click on it, go to Multiplayer and select Serial connection. You should see the following screen. If you do you did it correctly and are now ready to play using the Outpost 2 Netfix!
