Outpost Universe IRC Channels

Here at Outpost Universe, we feel that real-time chat is the best way to communicate with each other when online. We use IRC, or Internet Relay Chat. This is also where we meet to organize and play sessions of Outpost 2; it is also an replacement of WON.

General Information

Internet Relay Chat is a virtual meeting place where people from all over the world can meet and talk; you'll find the whole diversity of human interests, ideas, and issues here, and you'll be able to participate in group discussions on one of the many thousands of IRC channels, on hundreds of IRC networks, or just talk in private to family or friends, wherever they are in the world.

Our IRC chat room, known as a channel, was started around February 2003 on QuakeNet. Since then, we have moved to our own IRC network.

Downloads

We offer two ways to access IRC:
A web based client for those that just want a quick peak, or can't install a desktop client, and an installable desktop client.

Web Based IRC (requires Java VM)

How to use IRC

Here are some commands you can use to control your IRC experience.

Command	Description	Usage
/nick	Changes your screen name	Type in any window
/join #channel	Enters another chat channel/room	Type in any window
/part	Leaves a chat channel	Type in the window for the channel you want to leave
/msg nickname message	Sends a private message to another user	Type in any window
/quit	Disconnects from IRC	Type in any window

Outpost Universe Channels

We have four main channels on our server for various purposes. Channel statistics can be found here.

#Outpost2	The main OPU channel. General talk and gaming.	#Outpost2.coding	Help channel for coding and other programming related things.
#Outpost2.lobby	The lobby channel, where you can spam, run bots, or do pretty much anything you want. OPU\|Bot runs a few games here.	#admin	The channel to go to if you are experiencing problems with the IRC network, services, or anyone on it.
